Afripay is a PHP/Laravel international payment platform enabling tuition fee payments across 40+ European institutions, with Python-based intelligent routing and fraud detection layered on top of the PHP API tier.

01. The Challenge

Enable reliable cross-border tuition payments to dozens of European institutions while meeting PCI-DSS, handling failover across many providers, and detecting fraud in real time at scale.

02. The Solution

Built the Laravel payment core and integrated 18+ gateway APIs (Paystack, Flutterwave, BVN, Stripe) with Python-based intelligent routing, failover logic, and a fraud detection model. Designed RAG-style data pipelines for transaction analytics and credit scoring, with replication for 99.99% DB availability.
