Every year, someone declares PHP dead. Every year, PHP powers more of the web than any other server-side language.
PHP 8.1 gave us fibers, enums, intersection types, and readonly properties. The language that once lacked basic type safety now has one of the most expressive type systems of any dynamically typed language.
For rapid, pragmatic, server-rendered backend development — especially where hosting costs matter — PHP 8 with Laravel is still my first choice. Not sentiment. Pragmatism.
